Free School Meals – Christmas Holiday Voucher Scheme
Devon County Council have announced plans to alleviate Christmas holiday hunger. Families of children who are currently in receipt of free school meals are eligible for a supermarket voucher to the value of £30 per child (£15 per week for the 2 week school Christmas holiday) to help pay for groceries over the festive period.
If you already receive free school meals
If you have already registered and receive free school meals, you will be sent a letter or email with a unique code and information about how to access the vouchers. Please look out for this in the coming days and get in touch with the free school meals team if you were expecting to receive one but didn’t. You can email them at email@example.com or call the education helpline on 0345 155 1019.
If you do not have access to the internet or a mobile phone in order to receive the vouchers, please contact your school direct and they will make arrangements to print off the vouchers for you. Please note, you will need to provide your school with your unique code in order for them to redeem your voucher on your behalf.
If you think you might now be eligible for free school meals
If you think your child may now be eligible for free school meals due to a recent change in your family circumstances, please take a moment to check the Devon Citizen’s Portal as soon as possible. This is the quickest way for eligibility to be assessed and you will get an instant decision to enable you to access the holiday voucher support over Christmas. Alternatively, you can call the education helpline on 0345 155 1019. To ensure you receive the free school meals holiday vouchers for this Christmas period you must have applied by Friday 18 December 2020.
