The Ted Wragg Trust is working in collaboration with Exeter Learning Academy Trust, Exeter CITY Community Trust and Exeter City Futures to help hundreds of children and families in need over the festive season.
This newly launched Exeter Festive Appeal is raising funds to put food and gift parcels together for disadvantaged schoolchildren and those families who have been impacted the most by the pandemic.
Exeter City Community Trust, which is the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club, have been working with Exeter City Futures to pull in support for this campaign and will be supporting with the distribution of parcels, to ensure they reach those most at need.
Moira Marder, CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust comments “working closely with the Exeter Learning Academy Trust we have identified at least 700 families whose children attend Exeter primary and secondary schools who are at risk of ‘holiday hunger’. The support received from local business is profound and will have a major impact on families giving them one less thing to worry about after what has been such a challenging year.”
The local, national and regional support that the campaign has been receiving has been remarkable with support from the Premier
League, Tesco, Co-op and Amazon. Crediton Community Bookshop, which is a not-for-profit organisation, has pledged to contribute a book to every parcel that is delivered. The Rediscover Church, which is based in the city centre, has contributed food to the cause.
