The Clerk to the Local Governing Body (LGB) provides high quality administrative and organisational support to the School Governors, including the preparation of agendas and meeting papers, taking accurate minutes of meetings and maintaining the LGB’s administrative and organisational records. You will have a key role in facilitating the recruitment and induction of new Governors, and promoting Governor training opportunities.

With the support of the Clerk to the Trust, you will also provide expert guidance and advice to the LGB on governance legislation, procedures and to ensure compliance. You will be accountable to the Chair of Governors and will work closely with the Headteacher.

You should have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be self-motivated, flexible, and able to work under your own initiative and to manage deadlines.  The ability to remain impartial and maintain confidentiality is essential.

Experience of clerking or working in a similar administrative role is desirable. The role will involve taking minutes at LGB meetings throughout the year, some of which will take place after the school day or in the evenings.  These are currently held remotely via Microsoft Teams, but will revert to face-to-face meetings in the future.
