As a Governance Officer you will play a key role supporting local governors to carry out their roles effectively and you will be responsible for advising the Local Governing Board (LGB) on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, and their duties and responsibilities within the current legislative framework.  You will also be responsible for providing high quality governance support, including specific responsibility as the Clerk to the Local Governing Boards for designated Exeter schools. This role will involve preparation of agendas and meeting papers, taking accurate minutes of meetings and maintaining the LGB’s administrative and organisational records.

You should have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be self-motivated, flexible, and able to work under your own initiative and to manage deadlines. The ability to remain impartial and maintain confidentiality is essential.

Experience of clerking or working in a similar administrative role is desirable. Training on governance will be provided.
