South West Teacher Training, a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training programme based in Exeter, is looking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and dedicated Subject Course Tutor in Science. We are a partnership of schools across the South West of England who work together to provide high quality initial teacher training, leading to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through delivering PGCE, School Direct PGCE and School Direct Salaried and Apprenticeship courses. We are looking for excellent Secondary practitioners who have experience of delivering a first class education within inclusive, diverse and challenging schools.
At SWTT, we provide a high level of individualised support to our trainees, ensuring that they make rapid and sustained progress and are well prepared for teaching in the South West and further afield. In the role of the Subject Course Tutor, you will work alongside a team of Tutors to deliver outstanding professional development sessions to trainees. You will directly support a group of trainees, working with their School Based Mentors to ensure the trainees are developing their practice and are provided with training that is highly relevant to their needs.
The role would include:
- Tracking and supporting trainee teachers’ progress;
- Supporting school based mentors in carrying out their role;
- Communicating with and visiting partnership schools;
- Working with others in the team to support developments in ITT;
- Delivering centre based training sessions.

This is a part-time role requiring availability on one day a week during term time, preferably Fridays. Arrangements for secondments can be made with schools for the right candidate.
