Sidmouth Students Star at Summer Concert

Students and staff at Sidmouth College showcased their musical and vocal talents at the school’s annual summer concert.
The event brought together students, families and the wider school community for an evening of live music, celebrating the talent, creativity and dedication of young performers across the college.
The concert featured a wide variety of performances, with many students taking to the stage in front of a live audience for the very first time. Staff praised the high standard of performance and the confidence shown by every student involved.
Guests also enjoyed refreshments provided by local businesses Taste of Sidmouth and Pizza Buona, as well as the Newton Poppleford School PTFA, helping to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening.
At Sidmouth College, part of the Ted Wragg Trust, the music curriculum and extra-curricular offer is built on the belief that every student is musical and can flourish when given the opportunity. Through a broad, practical curriculum and regular live performances, students are encouraged to build confidence, develop their talents and enjoy making music together.
Mr Alex Evans, Headteacher at Sidmouth College, said:
“What a night. Our summer concert was a wonderful celebration of the talent of our students. The standard of performance was exceptional and it was really special to see so many young people performing in front of a live audience for the first time. We are incredibly proud of every student who took part and grateful to everyone who came along to support them."
Moira Marder, CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust, said:
"Performing in front of an audience takes courage, commitment and teamwork, and events like this give young people the opportunity to develop skills and confidence that will stay with them for years to come. It is fantastic to see the arts continuing to play such an important role in school life at Sidmouth College."
