Our Trust of Schools

Health Advisory Board

As part of our mission to transform lives and strengthen our communities to make the world a better place, we recognise the importance of health and wellbeing in children and young people’s lives. In order to strengthen our communities through excellent education, we aim to empower children and young people to lead healthy lives.

The Health and Education project aims to support all our schools, including staff, children and young people and our families with both a strategic and practical approach.

Advisory Board

Positively collaborating with health care providers across the region we have a Health and Education advisory board that aims:

  • To facilitate excellence in our approaches to supporting health and mental wellbeing in our schools
  • To identify and address the health barriers faced by children and young people in accessing education
  • To provide an advisory service to schools seeking to improve health, mental wellbeing and resilience
  • Provide training and support to education settings by highly skilled health practitioners
  • To support local public health issues and campaigns through education

Heads Up

Identifying and addressing the health barriers to education.

Our 'Heads Up' initiative aims to:

  • Support parents, carers and staff in understanding the health issues that may affect children and young people and signpost to appropriate services.
  • Empower children and young people to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing
  • Educate children and young people on the symptoms, triggers, causes and lifestyle choices that affect their health and wellbeing
  • Signpost children, young people, parents, carers and education staff to appropriate services to support identified health barriers

Our first heads up initiative has been to address headache in young people.
