3G pitches are high-quality all-weather surfaces that are perfect for learning and enjoying the game.

The new facility represents a major investment in grassroots sport and physical activity across Plymouth, creating a high-quality, accessible space for students, local clubs and the wider community to enjoy all year round.

Designed to support football development locally, the facility will also help address growing demand for quality playing surfaces in the city, ensuring more people have access to places to play.

The new facility includes:

• A full-size FIFA Quality 3G football pitch
• High-performance floodlighting
• New goals and equipment storage facilities
• Improved access and spectator areas

Tor Bridge High School, part of the Ted Wragg Trust, is committed to promoting physical education, health and wellbeing for all students. The school's PE curriculum is designed to support young people physically, mentally and emotionally, helping them develop resilience, teamwork, leadership and confidence through sport. 

The new 3G pitch will further enhance both curriculum and extracurricular opportunities, enabling more students to participate in competitive sport and develop leadership skills.

The new 3G pitch will be a fantastic asset not only for our students but for our wider community. It will create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport, improve their health and wellbeing, and be part of a thriving local sporting environment."

Councillor Kate Taylor, Cabinet member responsible for sport and leisure at Plymouth City Council said:

"We’re really pleased to be supporting these much-needed pitch improvements, which will benefit the whole school community as well as residents right across the city. 

“I am particularly happy to see investment in playing spaces in the north of the city, as we continue our commitment to Plymouth having as many quality pitches as possible.

“Investing in facilities like this helps to increase participation in physical activity and means more people can enjoy sport in a high-quality environment."
