The session was led by Laura Doucas, advanced orthoptist at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, who introduced students to her role within the NHS.

Students learned how orthoptists diagnose and treat problems with eye movement and how the eyes work together, as well as the different routes into the profession.

They also took part in practical activities, including vision tests and equipment used to assess eye movement, giving them an insight into how patients are supported in clinical settings.

The hands-on session prompted questions as students explored how technology is used in diagnosis and treatment.

The school, which is part of the Ted Wragg Trust, works with external partners and local employers to support a structured careers programme that helps students explore future pathways and make informed choices.
