During her visit, Donna was guided around the academy by student leaders, who provided a valuable insight into school life and leadership at Isca. She visited a number of Year 11 lessons, where she spoke with students about their studies and their preparations as they approach the final stages of their examinations.

The visit also included a meeting with the school’s Careers and Community Lead. Discussions focused on developing work experience opportunities with Devon County Council and how these could align with students’ career aspirations. 

They explored the skills required for future employment and ways to ensure placements are both meaningful and accessible. The conversation also considered how a long-term partnership could be established, offering students regular engagement, mentoring opportunities, and clearer pathways into employment.

The visit builds on a recent trip to County Hall, where Isca student leaders met senior figures and gained first-hand insight into how local government operates.

This ongoing programme of engagement forms part of efforts to strengthen links between Isca Academy, part of the Ted Wragg Trust, and Devon County Council, supporting students in their transition from education into employment.
