Forty-five students from the school took part in the event, with 40 completing the Gold route from Seaton to Exmouth Community College. Some finished in an impressive time of just 7 hours and 50 minutes.

The route took students along sections of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Jurassic Coast, with walkers tackling demanding terrain while experiencing the area’s stunning views and unique geological history.

The challenge gave students the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, support each other and experience the rewards of taking part in a major outdoor challenge. It can also inspire future activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Ten Tors, both of which the school is heavily involved in.

The group was among 140 students from across the Ted Wragg Trust who took part in this year’s Jurassic Coast Challenge, bringing students from different schools together to take on the coastal routes.

At Exmouth Community College, students are encouraged to take part in a wide range of experiences beyond the classroom that help them discover new interests and challenge themselves.

"We are very proud of all the students who took on this challenge. Completing a 36km coastal route is a fantastic achievement and shows the determination and teamwork of our students. It was wonderful to see them supporting each other and embracing the experience from start to finish."
