Isca Academy welcomes record numbers at Open Evening

Isca Academy has welcomed record numbers of prospective students and their families to its latest Open Evening, giving visitors the chance to experience life at the school first-hand.

The school also hosted three record-breaking Open Morning School Tours, giving more families than ever the chance to see the school in action.

From the moment visitors arrived, there was a real sense of energy throughout the school, with every department offering prospective year 7 students the chance to see, explore and get involved in activities.

In the Science department, visitors explored how the heart and lungs work together, before testing chemicals under a Bunsen burner and watching as the flames changed colour.

History staff brought the past to life, with visiting students challenged to match samples and symptoms to illnesses from medieval times, while the English team hosted a Murder Mystery, giving students the chance to put their detective skills to the test.

Across the school, there were practical demonstrations, creative challenges, experiments and interactive subject activities for visitors to discover. Primary school students explored classrooms, met staff and students, and got a taste of what life at Isca could be like.

Families also had the opportunity to meet staff, have their photographs taken with school dogs Missy and Syke, hear about the school’s approach to learning and personal development, and experience the atmosphere at the academy.

Anyone interested in visiting the school can book a tour by contacting the main reception on 01392 204082 or emailing [email protected].

Headteacher Vicki Joyce said:

“It was fantastic to welcome so many families to Isca Academy and to see the building full of such energy, enthusiasm and excitement. Our students and staff did an incredible job of showcasing what makes Isca such a special place to learn. Seeing the excitement on the faces of our visiting primary school students was a real highlight, and we hope they left feeling inspired about the journey ahead.

“To welcome record numbers to both our Open Evening and Open Morning tours is a wonderful reflection of the strength of our community. We are incredibly proud of our students and staff and the opportunities they create every day for young people at Isca.

“We would like to thank all of the families who attended, and the staff and students who helped make the events such a success.”
